The claims examiner will review the claim, make sure that all of the paperwork is submitted and completed properly. This information will then allow the claims examiner to pay the appropriate amount owed by the insurance carrier.
Once the insurance claims examiner pays their portion then they will send a letter, referred to as Explanation of Benefits (EOB) to the insured. The letter will explain the amount of the total bill, the amount paid by the insurance carrier, and how much the insured will need to pay.
Once the insured receives the EOB then the insured will need to pay the provider (doctor, hospital, lab, and/or pharmacy.
